San Diego brand & packaging designer · CPG, wellness & retail
A good product with a bad brand is still a bad product.
I'm Jake Davis, a brand and packaging designer helping CPG, wellness, and retail founders build brands that live up to what they've made. Identity, packaging, and websites, all under one roof.
Sound familiar?
You know the product is good, but your customers just can't see it yet.
It's time to close the gap.

About
I'm building a brand too.
Hey, I'm Jake. I'm a San Diego brand and packaging designer, and the co-founder and creative director of TANNIN, an oral care brand we built from the ground up. So I know what it means to bootstrap a business on a budget, make every design dollar count, and turn an idea into a brand people actually want to invest in.
So if your brand doesn't feel like what's in your head yet, you don't have to explain it to me. Let's figure it out together.
Jacob Taylor Creative is my studio, named after my first and middle name. So when you work with Jacob Taylor Creative, you're working directly with me.
5+ years
building CPG, wellness & retail brands
Owner
of a CPG brand, on a real budget
One person
a full studio's worth of skill
Services
Brand, packaging, and web. One person, zero handoffs.
Brand Identity
Brand strategy, positioning, voice, logo system, and brand guidelines. Works whether you're on shelves or still an idea.
Packaging
Label and packaging design for CPG products, built as systems that scale across SKUs, with print-ready files your printer actually needs.
Web & Launch
Shopify and Webflow websites I design and build myself, plus the social, email, and launch assets around them.
How this works
Four steps. No surprises.
No disappearing for six weeks and coming back with a big reveal. You see it come together and sign off at each stage before we move on.
Step 01
Discovery
Kickoff call, questionnaire, and visual targets. We figure out what your brand actually stands for.
Kickoff call · Refined brief · Visual direction boards
Step 02
Design
Two to three strong directions built on that foundation, so you're reacting to something real.
Initial concepts · System development · Layout exploration
Step 03
Refinement
Pick one direction and polish it: layout, type, color, and how it holds up in the real world.
Feedback rounds · Polish · Revisions
Step 04
Delivery
Production-ready files, specs, and a short brand guide so everything stays consistent.
Print-ready files · Final exports · Production handoff
How to start
Start small, or go all in.
No product or packaging yet? That's fine. Plenty of founders start with the brand and add packaging when they're ready.

FAQ
Things founders usually ask me
Do I need a product or packaging to work with you?+
Nope. A lot of my work is brand only: the story, identity, and guidelines. If you have packaging coming later, the brand will be built to carry it.
Who do you work with?+
Founder-led CPG, wellness, and retail brands, especially better-for-you food, beverage, coffee, supplements, and personal care. Most are early stage: about to launch, raise, rebrand, or land in retail.
What does a brand and packaging designer do?+
I figure out what your brand stands for, then design the visual system that shows it: logo, colors, typography, packaging, and website. The goal is a brand people trust on sight and pick up off the shelf.
What does it cost?+
Brand Audits are $750. Brand Sprints start at $4,500, and I'll quote a fixed price after our intro call once I know the scope.
How long does a project take?+
Most Sprints run four to six weeks. Got a launch or print deadline? Tell me on the call and we'll plan around it.
Can you work with the brand I already have?+
Yes. Sometimes the right move is a full rebrand, sometimes it's a refresh that keeps what customers already recognize. A Brand Audit is a good way to find out which.
Do you build the website too?+
Yes. I design and build Shopify and Webflow sites myself, so the site matches the brand without a handoff to a developer.
Why not just use AI for my branding?+
It feels like the safe, cheap move, but it usually means paying for your brand twice: once now, and again when you redo it in six months. And people can tell when something's AI-made.
How does payment work?+
A 30% deposit gets us started, and the rest is split across the project. Everything gets laid out in a simple contract before any design work begins.
Do you only work with San Diego brands?+
No. I'm based in San Diego, California and love meeting local founders in person, but I work remotely with brands across the US.
